Just being honest here, I don't do much to celebrate Halloween (which I'm certain will change as my children get older). For starters, I'm a big scaredy cat and I hate being spooked. But mostly I'm just not a fan of all the ubiquitous orange and black decorations and goodies. I do, however, love the purple and black combo I've started to see; it's so much more chic. Since the best part of the whole Halloween business is the treats I decided to make a few over the weekend--chocolate caramel pretzels. And since it's nearly Halloween, I decorated them with purple, black, white, and silver sprinkles and sugars--my 3-year old was thrilled.
Step1: Dip pretzel rods in melted caramel and place in fridge to harden. Instead of making caramel, I melted a bag of store-bought caramels with about 4 tablespoons of almond milk. Step 2: Dip pretzels in melted chocolate. I used lavender candy melts and Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips. Step 3: Decorate with sprinkles before chocolate hardens. Step 4: Enjoy!
I made some of these for Christmas last year. Most came out well but a few a went a wee bit overboard with the salt. Which my nephew promptly let me know.
What fun!
