7 Ways to Freshen Up Your Space for Spring

March 12, 2015

The arrival of spring is such an exciting time--fresh asparagus at the farmers' market, peonies in full bloom, and, finally, sunshine. And since spring is a season of rebirth and renewal, it's the perfect time to breathe new life into your living space. Here's how you can freshen up your home for spring, without breaking the bank.

1. Switch your scent
The changing of seasons means it's time to switch up your home fragrance. Burn a candle or use a linen spray with a spring-inspired scent. {see previous post for candle ideas}

2. Change your bedding
Now that the weather is finally warming up, it's time to pack away the flannel sheets and heavy comforter and exchange them for clean, crisp cotton linens.

3. Let the sunshine in

Give windows a good scrubbing and open the shutters or curtains to let in some natural light.

4. Bring in fresh flowers

There is just something about fresh blooms that completely change the way a space looks and feels. Put a vase of fresh flowers in every room to add a little cheer to your home.

5. Infuse some color
A complete furniture overhaul isn't exactly practical, but you can add colorful pillows to a chair or sofa, hang new artwork, or switch out your decor accents to give your space a facelift. If you're desperate for a more dramatic change, invest in slip covers for your furniture.

6. Rearrange your furniture
Move chairs around, pull your cool side table into the bedroom, push your sofa closer to the bookcase...even the smallest changes can drastically change the way a room looks.

7. Add a fresh coat
There's no better way to give your space a mini makeover than with new paint. If redoing the walls an entirely new color isn't an option, add a fresh coat of the current color to make walls look  clean.

  2. Yep! It is time to get rid of my dark gray and black comforter and add some fun to my bedroom with some orange and teal colors. Can't wait to liven up my home. Thanks for the ideas!

    1. Yes! It's time for some color, even if it's just a bouquet of flowers.
