Coming up with new ways to keep your little ones entertained can seem an impossible task at times, so each month I will offer up a few fun ideas that you and your children might enjoy. Have fun!
1. Build a snowman. Use this recipe for snow dough if you can't get to the real thing and make mini snowmen.
2. Finger paint with pudding. Stock up on chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and any other flavor you can find to get a variety of colors.
3. Make a list of fun and interesting places you'd like to visit in the new year and put it up on the fridge.
4. Share your favorite childhood book or movie with them.
5. Have breakfast in bed.
6. Pull out their baby pictures and tell them funny stories from when they were very little.
7. Let them decide what to have for dinner and make it, no matter what it is.
8. Find a museum that has free admission and take them.
9. Take them to see Annie (it's super cute!) and sing "Tomorrow" and "It's a Hard-Knock Life" on the way to the theater.
10. Bundle up and go on an outdoor scavenger hunt. Make a list of items for them to find or point out and bring a notepad to keep track of their score.
11. Plant an indoor herb garden. Or get a head start on your perennials and plant poppies and daisies.
12. Set up a camping site in the living room and have a family sleepover, complete with hot dogs and stovetop s'mores.
13. Read a book about Martin Luther King, Jr. in honor of his birthday this month. Here's a great kid-friendly read.
14. Try an ethnic food your kids have never tasted.
15. Make sock puppets and put on a sock people play.
